The Family Tradition

Happy Thanksgiving!
On Thanksgiving, we give thanks. We spend time with family. We decorate with pumpkins and leaves and the boys' art from school.
You won't find anything red and green. No signs of Santa for at least another week. There is no Black Friday for us.
You see, my birthday is December 4. That means there will be no Christmas until after my birthday. We actually can't do anything for Christmas until after December 5. That's the day we got engaged in San Francisco. We celebrate "San Francisco" every year. That's our tradition. Then on December 6, we go get a real tree.  We don't have to decorate it. It's tradition to go buy it December 6.
I don't like to rush things. I don't understand why people want to have Christmas up before Thanksgiving. You don't put up Red, White, and Blue before Easter.
I like our family tradition. I like celebrating my birthday. I like celebrating San Francisco. I love Christmas. I just don't want to smoosh it all together and lose the meaning of each event.
So Happy Thanksgiving. For now.

Father and son

Jon took Jonathan fishing on Sunday. He was going to pick up a ping pong table at an older couple's house near Calaveras Lake and thought they could take Jonathan's fishing pole along.
When they pulled up to the couple's house, Jon told Jonathan he needed to ask these people where the lake was. Jonathan ran to the door and knocked several times. When the old man came to the door Jonathan asked him where the lake was. Jon laughed and explained to the man they were going fishing after they got the Ping pong table. So the man took Jonathan to the back of his house and told him to look in the distance. That was the lake. They loaded up and went to the lake.
They had a really good time, even though they didn't catch anything.

My boys

These boys are having so much fun being brothers. They fight and play and talk all the time. I love having two boys.
