Professional Pictures

So sweet! Here's one of the pictures from his first photo shoot.
He's a week old in this picture.
Today he's 11 days old. My mom left this morning. Now it's up to me and Jon to take care of everything. We'll see how it goes. It was really nice having her here to help.

Sleepy time

First bath

He didn't exactly enjoy the first bath - but he needed it. The crying only lasted a minute or so then he was back to being peaceful.

First Doctor Visit

Jonathan is about 5 days old - and we had to go see the doctor today since he had low blood sugar in the hospital. Now he is healthy and gaining weight fast. He left the hospital Sunday weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces. Three days later he's at 7 pounds 15 ounces. That's more than his birthweight already. Everything else looked good.

We also hit another milestone - he peed on me. I was warned, but it was still a shock. I was giving him a sponge bath this afternoon when he shot straight at me and soaked my shirt. It took me a second to comprehend what was happening. I had the faucet running, my hand was in a bucket of warm water, his head was wet and then my stomach felt really wet and warm. He shot straight at me. My mom and I couldn't stop laughing.

He is such an alert baby - taking everything in and it's such a joy to watch.

Life at home

We got to go home on Father's Day. Such a great gift for Jon.
As new parents, it's exciting but scary to take a little tiny baby home. He looked so little in his car seat. My mom is staying with us to help get us settled. It's such a blessing to have her here to cook and clean and just offer support. So far, so good.

Like father like son

We couldn't figure out why Jonathan needed to free his left arm from the swaddle - until I saw this. They were sleeping side by side, both of them with their left arms up. As you can see we are so enjoying learning about our little wonder. It's amazing to see parts of yourself in another human being. We could sit and watch him forever.

Due Date Passes

June 14th has come and gone. This little boy is looking to be more like his mom - always late. We still celebrated the due date. I wore a very pretty purple dress to work. We went out to eat with Josh and Tina and my sister. Spicy Chicken Pad Thai from Thai Topaz was super yummy, but not enough to coax this little monster from his cave.
We also walked - did the yoga ball - foot massage - etc. Got some good contractions - about 10-15 minutes apart. But nothing regular and still no sign of baby coming out. Though you can clearly see him moving inside my belly.
So, patience. Patience. He can't stay in there forever.

Timing Contractions

Not sure if it's the real thing yet .. or just practice contractions. But there's something going on. Jon is wearing his watch 24/7 now to time contractions. We are about 25 minute apart.. they last about a minute. We've had three in a row so far. Not enough to head to the hospital.
It's funny now that we are so close - every time we call someone they ask if it is time for baby.
My family is in town this weekend just to wait for baby. Megan and Enzo (foreign exchange student from Venezuela) floated the river today with Danny and Holly. My mom, dad, and grandma just watched my belly all day for any signs.
We'll let you know when something more exciting happens.
